BOEM Announces California Lease Sale

The US BOEM has announced the long anticipated 1st California Floating Wind Lease Round, starting on December 6.

The areas on lease are the Humboldt and Morro Bay lease areas, totaling 373,267 acres ( 1,510 square kms).
BOEM ran the required procedures leading to 84 interested companies and finalized a list of 34 eligible bidders, each of which can eventually win only one single area.

This lease round has been anticipated for a long time, now that it is here, the suypply chain will find sifficient proof that these developments 4.5 GW will proceed, allowing the planning of investment and construction of the required infrastructure and workforce training. With the areas total capacity of 4.5GW
a fleet of some 200-300 floating wind units (FTUs) will have to be designed, built and installed in 800-1,200 meters water depth. The export cabling, infield array cable quantites and lengths can be derived from the various Q Vision modules. The projected projects’ plannig with supply chain tender windows can be found in the Supply Chain Opportunities (SCO) module and will be updated with every phase of each development.
